GENESIS G40: Assembly Help File - Pictorial PHASE 3.

Genesis G40 monoband 40m all-mode 5W SDR transceiver kit

Phase 3.

-locate component bag labeled Phase 3. Sort out components according to type and value. In this phase you will be assembling components only in the highlighted area of PCB. Start with resistors. It is strongly recommended to double check values with Ohm-meter.

-locate and solder MLC capacitors (small yellow body) 19 x 100nF and 2x 10nF, total of 21. Exact position of two 10nf MLC is shown further down.

-locate and solder USM capacitors (large brown body)
4 x 22nF and 2x 100nF.

NOTE: USM and MLC caps are NOT interchangeable!

-install 47 uH choke (x3). This photo is also clarifying position of one of two 10nF MLC caps.

-install IC 74AC74PC having the notch oriented as per photo. (Note position of second 10nF MLC cap).

-install two IC 74HC4066, notch oriented as per photo.

-install four NE5532P, marking dot oriented "top right". When installed correctly, writing on the IC will be upside down, as shown here.

-locate four NON POLARIZED capacitors marked 10uF NP

-solder non-polarized caps as per photo.

-locate trimmer pots: one marked Y501 (500 Ohm) and two Y502 (5K).

-solder trimmer pots as per photo
-solder two relays
-solder all electrolytic capacitors

-with a fine screwdriver adjust trimmer Y501 until resistance across 330 Ohm resistor is 150 Ohm

-connect power supply and check volatge at following points:

-check out voltage on each NE5532:

Pin 1 +6V
Pin 2 +6V
Pin 3 +6V
Pin 4 0

Pin 5 +6V
Pin 6 +6V
Pin 7 +6V
Pin 8 +12V

NOTE: voltage measure on all four NE5532 should be identical.

- mount BNC connector and stereo jack

- connect pins of DPDT switch S1A and S1B

G40 receiver is now completed and ready for connection to PC.
