GENESIS G40: Assembly Help File - Pictorial: PC TX/RX settings
To connect G40 to your PC's USB port you need USB to serial port adapter.
Adapters are available form your local PC shop or online for as low as $2 including driver disc!
-do NOT plug the cable yet!
-insert installation disc and follow installation instructions provided with the disc. You may have to restart Widows so bookmark this page first.
-now plug the USB cable into any available USB port.
-in this step you need to find location of newly installed 'serial' port.
-go to Control Panel >System >Hardware >Device Manager and look under Ports
-in this particular case USB to serial port is COM4.
G40 has been tested with variety of SDR software however PowerSDR is probably the most suitable
for monoband transceiver. NOTE: some version of Power SDR (for example the one you have downloaded to
'test drive' our sound samples is RECEIVE ONLY version (when used with third-party hardware). For RX/TX version download
PowerSDR SR40 (approx. 2MB).
Install SR40. When prompted for hardware select "Rocky" and "unsupported sound card" (unless your card is listed and available in option menu)
Run PowerSDR SR40.
Click Setup (top left tab) and configure settings as shown in next 5 steps.

NOTE: click TUNE again to revert to RX mode. Don't stay on TUNE for more than few seconds at time.
If you have passed this step successfully, G40 is 'talking' to your PC and PowerSDR.
Click on MOX button to test it too.
If you have passed this step successfully then G40 is 'talking' to your PC and PowerSDR.
In this step you will check VOX.
-connect stereo cable with two 3.5mm jack.
